Ghajnsielem celebrates Feast of St Anthony
(Sunday, 9th June 2013)   updated with videos

The nice weather and sizable crowd ensured an enjoyable evening as the Franciscan community celebrated the feast of St Anthony. The St Joseph band took an active part on both Saturday and feast day by accompanying the statue of St Anthony along the streets of 'Tal-Gudja' community.  more

New statue of St Anthony
(Tuesday, 4th June 2013) 

With only a few days to go, several youths and volunteers are working around the clock in order to finish the street decorations of 'Tal-Gudja' area in time for the Feast of St Anthony which will be celebrated on the 9th of June. A new statue of St Anthony will be taken out for the first time on the feast's eve.  more

Procession with the Blessed Sacrament
(Sunday, 2nd June 2013) 

Ghajnsielem celebrated the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, traditionally known as the feast of Corpus Domini. The children who recently received the First Holy Communion and the Holy Confirmation together with St Anthony's cavaliers took part in the procession with the Blessed Sacrament.  more

St Joseph Home rented to government
(Tuesday, 21st May 2013) 

St Joseph Home in Ghajnsielem is to be rented out by the Gozo Church to the government for use as an old people's home. The agreement was signed today in the presence of Bishop Mario Grech and Gozo Minister Anton Refalo. The Home will have 70 rooms and 140 beds.  more

Feast of St Joseph the Worker
(Sunday, 12th May 2012) 

On Sunday afternoon, the Ghajnsielem parish celebrated the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, better known in Maltese as 'San Guzepp Haddiem'. A mass was held in the afternoon  and afterwards, the band accompanied the statue its patron saint around the main streets of Ghajnsielem. more

Simirat Valley cleaned up!
(Sunday, 5th May 2013) 

Another project being funded by Eco Gozo has recently been completed by the Ghajnsielem Local Council. This is the first time that this embankment has been cleaned in the last 54 years. It has now been cleared of weeds and unwanted undergrowth including sand and building material.  more

Local Council hosts European conference
(Tuesday, 30th April 2013) 

The Ghajnsielem Local Council hosted the project partners where 12 European project partners participating in the Interreg IVC project (called 'Green Infranet') held its Steering Committee and Monitoring Board meetings. The discussion centred largely on biodiversity conservation.  more
