Belvederes in
Ghajnsielem
Ghajnsielem has several elevated points of vantage affording
extensive view of picturesque Mgarr harbour and beyond. The
best belvedere is beyond Pjazza ta-Dehra half way in Triq
Hamri offering a view of the harbour across Wied lil-Kbir.
It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Gorg Borg Oliver on 17
April 1966.
Another
Belvedere is situated below in the lower part of Triq Sant
Antnin, in front of the Grand Harbour. The third is the parvis
of the chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lourdes.

Another is
beyond this chapel and beneath the fortifications of Fort
Chambray inside a bosket of cypress and other trees planted in
1963 as a memorial of Pope John XXIII (1958 - 1963). Two other
well known belvederes are situated in the vicinity of the
Grand Hotel (St Anthony Street) and Mgarr Hotel (Zewwieqa
Street). The St. Anthony Street Belvedere was inaugurated in
1998 and was part of the road re-construction project which
started in 1996 when this road collapsed due to heavy rain.
The Zewwieqa Belvedere is situated on a small cliff / road
bridge and has a privileged position overlooking the Zewwieqa
area and Mgarr Harbour.

Finally,
the Amabile Cauchi playing field (situated in the end of the
Apparition Square) can also offer stunning views of the Wied
l-Kbir (Mgarr Valley), Comino and beyond.
