This is short message from Alessandro Battilocchio after the
first cultural exchange between the two communities
Dear friends,
Just let me say few words to let you know that last week is for sure going to
be unforgettable for both our communities. As Francis said, the tears of the
last day, that involved people of both town, of both sexes and of any age ,
are a clear sign that our friendship will be never-ending. Today Tolfa woke up
sadder: you brought more light in the beauty of our land and, most of all, you
entered inside our hearts. There is a big festa today and tomorrow in Tolfa
but, with thousands of people hanging around, almost all the host families
were staying together in a corner.....remembering the nicest time we had
together: the dances, the songs, the abundant Italian food, the football
matches, the waves in "Aquafelix!", the Pope prayer place, the official
signature or just the chats in the square bar. Moment that will remain in our
minds...making us think to each other. But as I told Francis when you left, we
must be happy because we built up something special and particular, more than
just a twinning: and this is only the BEGINNING! I hope everybody stays in
touch with each other as we are doing now.
Our politicians built up the Europe of the bankers, let's start to build up
the Europe of the people. A big hug to you all.

after the
first cultural exchange between the two communities
Dear friends,
This is to say what a
wonderful stay we had during our eight days spent in the beautiful town of
Tolfa for the Signing of the 'Protocol of the Understanding'between Tolfa and
Ghajnsielem. It was a very nice experience for our entire group not to forget.
Today one can say that the great friendship rose between the families and
youths of the two towns in just a few days,is just a beginning of a better
companionship for the exchanges of cultural activities in the near future.All
the tears and broken hearts on the day of departute showed that we really make
part of a one good family. I would like from the bottom of my heart to thank
all the families who hosted our delegation. It was with all their help that
such an activity be successful. The participating of the two twinning
committeess including our two secretaries,who worked so hard for the last
months was also an important factor for this success. I would like to thank
the Mayor Mr.Alessandro Battilocchio and his team for the set up an
interesting program. This included the most important day of our visit in
which on Thursday 7 August both Mayors signed the Protocol of Understanding.
Tolfa Band Giuseppe Verdi played the two national anthems of Italy and Malta
together with the European anthem at the presence of the Maltese Ambassador
for Italy Mr.Edward Mellilo. As from next week we will be looking forward to
start work and preparations for the proper signing of the twinning,which is
going to take place in our village next August 2004. I hope that for this
special occation a big delegation from Tolfa will be our hosts next summer to
enjoy our feast and of course attend for the signing of this important
twinning between Tolfa and Ghajnsielem.
I would personally thank the family Battilocchio whom i was their host,for
their hospitality and interest they showed with me.
